Black Labs Matter – 25 Years In A Row!

When you think about “loyalty” what comes to mind? The Semper Fi motto and attitude of the United States Marine Corps? The sidekick bond of Batman and Robin? Some would say nothing tops the Semper Fi-do

loyalty of man’s best friend, the dog? Dogs are famously loyal and in return we as a nation have been just as loyal to one particular breed of dog.

The American Kennel Club says that for 2015 and the previous 24 years, the most popular purebred dog in America is the Labrador Retriever.

That is the longest streak for any dog and that my dog loving friends is loyalty.

The AKC ‘s posted report shows German Shepherds and Golden Retrievers next in popularity. You’re probably also seeing a lot more French Bulldogs recently. They have risen 32 spots in the last ten years but I’m excited to see my childhood pet breed, the Norwegian Elkhound, has moved up 12 spots from 100 to 88th this year. Thor was the best dog ever!!!

Every list has a first and a last and coming in at the bottom of the list of 189 breeds was the English Foxhound, which I’m sure is still loyal and loved dearly by all their owners. (Time)
