The countdowns are starting again -- the number of shopping days left until Christmas, the number of days until Black Friday, Cyber Monday or Two-For-One-Tuesday.

Jostling your way through Mega-Mart for the latest markdown on whatever we're supposed to buy this year? Camping out at 3 a.m. in an icy big-box parking lot when your Thanksgiving meal has barely digested?

That's not you.

And typical token gestures aren't your idea of gift giving.

That's why we're offering Yakima's newest marketplace of handcrafted goods: the Holiday Craft Faire.

Enjoy a civilized setting -- the Modern Living Building at State Fair Park, 1301 S. Fair Ave. -- sip a hot drink, listen to some pleasant live music and take your time. The way we see it, it's how the holidays were meant to be celebrated.

Browse everything from jewelry to jerky, candles to clothing items. Got a question about any of the items? Ask the people who've made them by hand -- they'll be right there in the building.

Even the Internet isn't big enough to show you everything that our 30-plus vendors from around the region are bringing, but we here are few photos of the kinds of crafts you'll see ...

The fair opens this Friday (Nov. 21) and continues through Sunday (Nov. 23). Hours are 3-8 p.m. Friday, 9-6 Saturday and 10-4 Sunday.
