Bike Patrols to be Tested in Yakima This Fall

flickr

Police officers are now testing bike patrols in downtown Yakima.  The city manager suggested the idea to police.  For now, officers on bikes will patrol downtown on First Fridays including this Friday.

Yakima plans to test the project with two officers and reevaluate later this fall.  The city manager also intends to keep an eye on it himself.  There hasn’t been a bike patrol in Yakima since the early 1990s.

Police are trying to locate the person behind a cruel Facebook page that seemingly sprung up overnight.  It targets young women across Eastern Washington posting their pictures without their permission and setting them up for disparaging critiques.
