A thunder storm that blew through the Yakima Thursday night kept authorities busy throughout the valley. The storm hit at about 8:00 p.m. 911 operators say they received about 150 calls for assistance during the hour and half long storm. All City of Yakima Fire Department crews were busy responding from one incident to the other assisting people with flooding in their homes, power outages, water over roadways, and automatic fire alarms set off by power surges and water damage.
One business at the unit block of E Washington Ave in Yakima had a drain pipe on the roof break which flooded the upper and lower floors. PP&L was called to the scene and shut the power off until the water could be removed and the power safely turned back on.  A four-plex on the 6500 block of Tieton Drive also had severe water damage due to an open roof that had been in the process of being repaired.
