Firefighters from throughout the area subdued a 30-acre fire that threatened at least four homes behind the Fred Meyer store on 40th Avenue Sunday night.

More than 100 firefighters rushed to put out the blaze that started around 8 p.m. Sunday in the area of Powerhouse Road and Pecks Canyon and quickly moved up the hill.

More than 50 people gathered in the parking lot of the Fred Meyer and the crowd caused problems for firefighters trying to move in the area.
