A big fire at the Toppenish Public Works Department Wednesday destroyed a workshop but business is expected to get back to normal Today. Fire investigators say the fire started when an employee was trying to clean a paint gun with a paint thinnner. The fire at the workshop at 8 Buena Road started at about 2:40 p.m. Wednesday. Damage is estimated at $1 million. 6 city vehicles and three employee vehicles were destroyed including a lot of large equipment inside the workshop. One person was treated for smoke inhalation. No other injuries were reported.
