Yakima's new soccer complex on South 38th Avenue will be a big economic driver for the area according to a new economic impact study of the complex recently released. SOZO Sports co-founder Kerry Martin says the study found that in the first five years the complex will result in $10 million in spending. "$6.5 million will be direct spending. And we expect up to 45,000 room nights every year." The facility is expected to generate more than 100 jobs with 201 events every year with more than 115,000 spectators and 61,000 participants in a variety of sports including soccer, football, baseball and golf. The city of Yakima partnered with SOZO Sports to make the facility a reality. At least 6 fields will be ready in the spring for soccer games.
