Oh – oh, could I be in trouble?  Research says maybe.  I ask because of the age gap between me and my wonderful wife Sara. Marriage is tricky enough under normal circumstance but new data shows couples with the biggest age gaps between them fair the worst.

University of Colorado researchers looked at data on Australian marriages over a 13-year period. They found both men and women reported greater marital satisfaction when paired with a younger spouse, and dissatisfaction at being paired with an older spouse at the beginning of a marriage.  That’s why I don’t sense trouble –but maybe she does!! Yikes!

Study authors say that Over time, the people who are married to a much older or younger spouse tend to have larger declines in marital satisfaction, over time compared to those who are married to spouses who are similar in age.

Research by the numbers shows age gap couples last only six to ten years before becoming unhappy with the marriage. I’m working on 12 so maybe I dodged it!

So why does this happen? It's likely because couples similar in age may be more in sync with life decisions that affect both partners, which makes them better equipped to deal with big issues that come up.   My wife says it’s because she is so mature and that I’m so immature. Who am I to disagree!   Did I mention our age gap?  That's right, I didn't! (Daily Mail)
