Bicyclist Thrown 80 Feet Remains In Critical Condition

A bicyclist hit by a pickup truck yesterday in Yakima remains in critical condition at Yakima Regional Hospital.  25-year-old Juan Zavala was hit as he jumped off the curb on 16th and Jerome Avenues in Yakima. Witnesses say the pickup, a 2000 Toyota, extra cab, which was traveling south bound on 16th tried to avoid Zavala, however he was unsuccessful.  Yakima Police say after Zavala was hit, he was thrown 80 feet.  Meanwhile the driver of the pickup, 53-year-old Jesus Chavez was not cited.
