It's not enough that we'll soon be paying higher prices for airline tickets due to EPA emission regulations but the bag we use to carry the cash will now be smaller too!As airlines look to cram more and more of us into the airborne tin fish, less space is available for carry on.

Fox News reports global airlines recently announced new guidelines that dictate the "optimal" carry-on size should be 21.5 inches tall by 13.5 inches wide by 7.5 inches deep.

Notice they say guidelines, not rules, not regulations so that means it's allegedly not binding, but it also means that many travelers might have to purchase new carry-on luggage, or pay to have their usual carry-on item checked.

Details of how the new guideline will be implemented are not clear, and will likely vary from airline to airline and even now airlines around the globe have varying standards when it comes to the acceptable carry-on luggage.

The airline trade group says the new guideline will not necessarily replace each airline's rules on bag size, but gives them a uniform measurement that "will help iron out inconsistencies"  as they
