Bed bugs are a big problem in some parts of the community and with the yard sale season right around the corner, it could get worse.

Steve Weaver from Yakima's Weaver Exterminating Service says people who purchase furniture, mattresses, blankets, pillows or sheets from yard sales should look for the signs of bedbugs.

What you want to look for is little small black to brownish spots that could be the waste from the bugs. You may also find small insects [which could be] the bed bug adults.

Weaver says they have the size, shape and color as an apple seed. He warns that if there are any of these signs, do not purchase the item and do not bring the furniture or mattress into your home or your property.

Weaver says one bed bug can lead to an infestation.
