On April 10th, 1970, it was announced that The Beatles would no longer be performing and recording as a group. 42 years later, their legacy continues, and their music is still relevant.

The Beatles entered  American pop culture on February 9th, 1964 on the Ed Sullivan Show. I was in the third grade and watched the show with my family. For the next six years, the continued to record and their music evolved. And, as people grow, the band members needed to go their separate ways.  Many people blame John Lennon's wife Yoko Ono as being the person that broke the Beatles up, but money, a desire to be solo artists, and other factors contributed. Paul McCartney released his first solo album on April 17th, 1970, and that was pretty much it, although the business partnership between John, Paul, George, and Ringo was not dissolved until 1975.

Ive been a Beatles fan since I was 8 years old, and today my appreciation for their music continues to grow. My MP3 player is loaded with Beatles songs, and solo recordings by each member. If you really listen, you can really tell how far ahead of their time they were.

Here are some of my favorite Beatles songs that I wanted to share with you.
