With the deadline to place franchise tags on players looming Monday, the Seahawks and Marshawn Lynch sidestepped the need to do that on Sunday as the team's leading rusher signed a multiyear contract.

Seahawks.com quoted General Manager john Schneider last week as saying that "Marshawn Lynch will be back with the Seahawks next year in one way or another",  meaning the team would either use the team's franchise tag on him or get a deal done. The Seahawks announced that Lynch had signed a four year deal worth $31M yesterday.

This is great news for a team that hadn't had a 1000 yard rusher since 2005!

Now the team can turn to resigning other free agents like DL Red Bryant and LB David Hawthorne.
