The Yakima Bears move to Hillsboro, Oregon, has apparently been approved by the baseball hierarchy.

Major League Baseball has given the go ahead for the Yakima Bears to move to Hillsboro, Oregon for the 2013 season. Hillsboro Mayor Jerry Willey made the announcement at the end of Tuesday’s city council meeting. Willey added that construction of a $15.2 million, 4,500-seat stadium can begin soon.

The Bears have already qualified for  the Northwest League playoffs in September. The Bears have said previously that they would honor their current lease with Yakima County for the use of Yakima County Stadium, meaning some sort of buy out by the Bears could be a possibility.
