The Yakima Bears beat the Tri-City Dust Devils 6-2 Friday night at Gesa Stadium in Pasco, Washington. The Bears had five triples in the game, which tied a Northwest League record set by Walla Wall in 1975.

The Bears scored in the first after Kevin Medrano hit a triple and came home on a Joe Loftus RBI single. Michael Lang led off the second inning with a triple and scored on a groundout by Mark Ginther. After the Dust Devils scored a run in the bottom of the second, Ginther and Josh Parr hit back-to-back singles in the fourth and both were plated by a Yogey Perez-Ramos triple. Three hits, without the help of a triple, scored two more Bears runs in the top of the ninth. The Dust Devils only other score came in the bottom of the ninth on a solo homer.

The Bears finished with 13 hits, including two doubles and five triples. Lang had two of the triples and was one of five players with a multi-hit game. Medrano went 3-for-5, while Lang, Ginther, Parr, and Loftus all had two hits.

Bears starter Alex Carreras became the first six-game winner in the NWL, as he allowed one run on five hits and one walk while fanning five in six innings for the victory.

The Bears and Dust Devils play game two of the three-game series Saturday with a scheduled start time of 7:15. The Bears are planning to start lefty Daniel Watts against Dust Devil right-handed pitcher Tyler Gagnon.
