Ballot counting continued in the Yakima County Auditors office Thursday even though the courthouse was closed to the public.  Auditor Charles Ross says about 28,000 ballots are being counted and all the counting should be complete by Friday afternoon.

The race for Yakima County Coroner is the only undecided race. Currently challenger Jim Curtice leads incumbent Jack Hawkins 50 to 48 percent. Ross says the reason they're still counting ballots is because so many were delivered on election day. "18,000 ballots on election day was a huge turnout and then the day after was almost a 6,000 ballot run. So we increased the turnout on election day and the day after."
When all the counting is done Ross expects a 61 to 62 percent turnout. The election will be certified on November 27th.
