John Riggs was born and raised in Yakima. He moved away from Washington state for about 10 years, but moved back home, bringing along his wife and three kids. You'll find John in town snapping photos when he's covering new business openings, especially restaurants. He loves to help spread the word, and to encourage folks to shop local first. John also loves to travel, always looking for quick weekend getaways, attending events, and fan expos around the country. Don't be too shy to say, "Hi!"

These Giant Cookies are Worth a Stop in Moses Lake, WA
I was on my way back from Spokane over the weekend where we decided to stop in Moses Lake. We actually like Moses Lake quite a bit as it has some cool shops and restaurants and it's nice for the drive back to Yakima as it breaks the trip up so instead of driving 3 straight hours it's right in the middle so an hour and a half there, then an hour and a half home...

Best Spring Break Beaches in WA
Spring Break is often a time to celebrate the end of colder days and the start of a warmer season upon us. To many, I truly believe partially in thanks to Mtv, the beach seems to be the place to be for Spring Break. And, though, most of the time when you think 'beach' you think of Florida or SoCal or Hawaii but our Washington beaches have a lot of charm to them as well...
Yakima Girl Scout, Hennessey Rose, Reminds You Girl Scout Cookie Season is Coming Soon
Every so often we'll get visited by people here in the valley to sell us of local events or happenings to look out for. Today we were graced with the energy and style of one Hennessey Rose of Girl Scout Troop 2256 to let us know Girl Scout Cookies would be coming as soon as March...
I Finally Got the Chance to Visit Fuji Asian Buffet in Yakima
Though I was sad to see our Old Country Buffet go away during the pandemic, I was excited to hear we would be getting a new buffet that would feature Asian food. I do love my Asian food restaurants in town and when you make it a buffet, I'm all ears...
You Could Move to a nice House on Cuckold Road. Wait, What?
It's always great fun to look through Zillow to see what kind of houses that, let's be honest, you can't afford, but fun to see what all is out there.
This house caught my eye as it's located on Cuckold Point Road.
Wait, what?!
Now, if you're not familiar with the term, you're not alone...
Three of the Worst Grocery Stores in America are All in Portland, OR
Do you have a grocery store that you never step foot in as you have a bad time every time for any reason? You're definitely not alone. All it takes is one bad experience for you to vow never to return and immediately take it to the Internet to leave a poor review of your experience...
This WA Grocery Store Named One of the Best in America
When it comes to grocery stores, many people have their preference. Some love certain ones for location or the service they get or the items they know where they are. Then there are some grocery stores that you never visit due to location from where you are, but when you do go it's like you're on vacation in a new area...
Radcon in Tri-Cities is an Event You Need to Experience for Yourself
I had the joy of attending Radcon this past weekend in Tri-Cities. Radcon is a fan convention that's hard to pinpoint on what it is, exactly. It's all about Sci-Fi. It's all about table-top board games. It's all about fantasy authors. It's all about cosplay...
Open Letter to Porter’s BBQ in Tri-Cities: Open a Location in Yakima!
I was in Tri-Cities over the weekend and as we were looking for a place to eat, I drove past this place called Porter's Real Barbecue. It was a place that, admittedly, I hadn't heard of and won the popular vote from a car of two (myself and one of my kids) so let's check it out...
