The nation’s largest philanthropy dedicated solely to health is throwing some of its monetary muscle to a Yakima group aimed at improving health and early learning for Yakima Valley children.
The Roadmaps to Health Action Award from The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation includes a $10,000 grant and up to one year of consultation and coaching to help the “Investing in Children Coalition” build a culture of health in the Yakima Valley
Just yesterday we were talking about how aware women were of their appearance and how Monday was their best day and Thursday the worst, etc. etc. I was also saying how glad I was guys weren’t burdened with that - and then I find this from the Daily Mail.
Attitude and effort. We talk about how important they are as keys to success in the face of overwhelming obstacles. We also hear about excuses and blame and feeling entitled. There isn’t room for both in your mental makeup
Once again, guys, we are reminded of how good we have it. You ever worry about how you look one day to the next — enough to know which day is your best or worst? Me neither. But apparently the fairer sex does note such things about themselves. Case in point: this study reported in the Daily Mail.
Today was a little bittersweet as the realities of my time on council coming to an end becomes more clear. The Yakima Chamber of Commerce’s sponsored the State of the City Report luncheon where members of the City Council took turns highlighting city accomplishments in the areas of public safety, economic development, partnerships, built environment and public trust and then answered a few questions from the audience.
With a show called Bizarre Foods, Andrew Zimmern is no stranger to eating bugs. Now I’m not here to throw stones, or scones, but Zimmern is no lightweight. Which is interesting when you consider scientists are advocating eating bugs as a funky new weapon in the battle of the bulge.
