Arrest Made in Connection with Arson at Townsquare Media

Townsquare Media

Yakima Police say they have arrested a 41-year-old man on a first-degree arson charge in connection with the fire at the KIT and Townsquare Media studios Wednesday afternoon.

Police say video from a nearby bank that recorded the suspect was key in the man’s arrest.

The man was arrested Thursday while walking in the area of North First Street. Police have not yet released the video.

Authorities say the man did not give a reason why he lit the building on fire. Damage to the back wall of the studios at 4010 Summitview Ave. was minor.

Employees noticed the fire before it could spread. Firefighters doused the flames inside the wall in minutes. No injuries were reported.
