Arrest Made in Cold Case Murder Thanks to TV Show

Yakima County Sheriff's Deputies have arrested a man wanted in connection with a cold case that's more than a decade old.

They say tips led them to Idaho where they arrested 60-year-old Barrett Bailey. Bailey is accused of shooting and killing 32-year-old Deborah Bailey in Feb. 1997.

Deputies found Bailey's body in a car along the Naches-Wenas Grade outside of Naches. Autopsy results show Bailey died from multiple gunshot wounds to the head. Detectives conducted an extensive homicide investigation for years, but didn't have enough information to make an arrest although persons of interest were identified.

They say last summer they were contacted by the Turner Network Television to see if their program called 'Cold Justice' could help give a fresh look at the investigation.

'Cold Justice' producers, investigators and production crews came to Yakima in September 2014, where Yakima County Sheriff's Detectives Judd Towell and Dave Johnson, assisted by many members of the Sheriff's Detective Division, spent time going over the case including re-interviewing key persons involved.

Their findings along with the support of newly elected Yakima County Prosecutor Joe Brusic and his Deputy Prosecuting Attorneys led to an arrest warrant being issued for Barrett Bailey.

Bailey has waived extradition and is expected to be transported back to the Yakima County Jail Thursday to face 1st degree murder charges.

The program "Cold Justice" will feature this renewed investigation and a fresh look into the Deborah Bailey homicide case including the recent arrest this Friday at 8 p.m.
