Arizona Firefighters Honored by Local Crews

Many police officers and firefighters are wearing black bands over their badges today in memory of the 19 firefighters killed in Arizona on Sunday.

West Valley Fire Chief Dave Leach says firefighters and police officers share a special bond. He notes that many live together for days which creates special friendships forged through seeing some tough situations.

Leach believes “working together on fires or medical calls brings people together and when something happens it’s like a family member is injured or killed.” He emphasized that firefighters around the country understand that bond which makes it that much tougher when they hear of such a huge loss.
