A new soccer facility and pool facility are two major projects that will soon be before the Yakima City Council.

City Manager Tony O'Rourke says city staffers are putting together the public-private partnership agreements for the council's approval.

There'll be an agreement for example for the soccer facility with this organization we're dealing with called SOZO Sports of Central Washington. They will be charged with the design, construction and operation of the regional soccer facility.

City leaders and officials with SOZO Sports of Central Washington are still trying to finalize a location.

The city is expected to contribute $4.1 million for land and improvements.

There is also an expected approval of a partnership with the YMCA to build a new pool facility at Chesterly Park on South 40th Avenue. Both the YMCA and the city would contribute $4.5 million to build and jointly operate the pool facility.

Both agreements are expected to be approved by the City Council early next month.
