Another Suspicious Fire In The Lower Valley

Officials from Fire District Five in the Lower Valley say they battled a large haystack fire west of Mabton May 22 and May 23. The arson fire burned 750 bales of straw and caused a loss of nearly $32,000. Firefighters did save a majority of the hay bales in a stack near the bales of straw. The investigation is being handled by the Yakima County Fire Marshall's office. Officials are unsure if this fire has anything to do with the other suspicious fires. No injuries were reported.
