The Washington State Patrol is warning of another phone scam that has hit Washington State residents shortly after the "one-ring" scam.

This particular fraud has the criminal posing as banks, police officials and more asking the public to call and verify their social security number. The phone to verify is listed with an 813 area code which is in Florida.

The State Patrol recommends never giving personal information over the phone if there is a doubt as to the authenticity of the person on the other end of the line.

Anyone receiving a phone call like this is asked to inform the local authorities or the local WSP office to help with the investigation.

The state's Attorney General's website has some helpful information on how to protect your identity.
