This March will see the seventh annual Feeding 5000 program package and send food to children overseas.

This year, the group will be dedicating the packaging of the food to the late Dale Carpenter who was instrumental in the program.

Each meal costs 25 cents and consists of rice, lentils, spices, dehydrated vegetables and chicken protein powder. The food is packaged in Yakima and shipped to Children of the Nations centers in Uganda, Malawi, Sierre Leone, Dominican Republic and Haiti.

The packing of the food will take place on March 29th from 9:00 a.m. until 2:30, but people can contribute materials during their big recycling day on March 8th. Donations can be made at Mt. Olive Lutheran from 10 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. or at Central Washington Recycling with the designation that it is for the Feeding 5000 program.

Feeding 5000 has packaged and shipped roughly 344,000 meals in the past seven years.

To volunteer, contact Mt. Olive Lutheran Church at 7809 Tieton Dr. or by calling 966-2190.
