By the time I get to work at 5:30am my radio partner Lance has already downed at least a couple of cups of coffee.  It’s a habit shared by many early risers but now the newest YouTube video from ASAP Science reveals early morning is actually one of the worst times of day you can drink a cup-a joe.And no, it has nothing to do with making too many trips to the bathroom.  It’s all about the body's level of the stress hormone cortisol, which wakes you up in the morning.

What science is now saying is drinking caffeine can interfere with the body's production of cortisol-- it actually makes you produce less of the stuff. You then completely rely on caffeine to compensate for this loss—and that can lead to those bathroom trips!

So when can you drink?  The best times to caffeinate  are between 10 AM and noon, and between 2 PM and 5 PM.  So turn lose the hormones and save that first cup of coffee for a little later in the morning. (Time)
