For those with specific allergies, peanuts can be fatal.  But a new study from the Netherlands shows that for the rest of us, nuts and peanuts can be a life preserver.According to story reported by the UPI, Dutch researchers reviewed data from over 120,000 men and women since 1986 focusing on links between dietary habits and cancer.

The new data confirms previous studies that show those who eat nuts and peanuts every day were found to be at a lower risk of dying from several major causes of death compared to those on nut-free diets.

Eating a handful of nuts per day was linked with lower instances of morality from cardiovascular diseases, cancer, diabetes and respiratory and neurodegenerative diseases.

However you will need a nutcracker and not a table knife because peanut butter was not found to have the same benefit as peanuts in the shell.
