To Revlon, Maybelline, L’Oreal  and the other make-up giants, this one is going to hurt!!

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder BUT a new study reported in the Daily Mail reveals wearing make-up actually does very little to boost a woman's attractiveness.

How can this be?  Researchers took two photos of 44 female college students age 18 to 21: one with makeup and one without. They then showed the photos to 62 male and female students who rated each woman for attractiveness. They were only shown one photo of each woman, so they could not compare the made-up image and make-up free images to each other.

Make-up accounted for just a two percent variation in what was considered attractive, while the woman's general attractiveness, features or identity accounted for 69 percent of her overall attractiveness.

OK, time out.  I’m sure my beautiful wife would jump in to point out the ages of the women were 18 to 21.  Not exactly senior citizens!  What about make up at the 40 year old?  Good question, no answers, go do your own study!

In the meantime, study contributor Dr. Alex Jones says, "The take-home message here seems to be that, for better or worse, our attractiveness is mostly determined by our natural appearance, and wearing makeup will only have a small effect in comparison." (Daily Mail)
