• Permission to come aboard! Memorial Day weekend marks the unofficial start of the summer boating season, though lots of boaters are keeping their eyes fuel prices on the rise. Typical fuel consumption for a 'low usage" boating enthusiast: seven to 10 gallons an hour.  The taste in boats is a varied as the fish in the sea but there are patterns in boat names. According to BoatUS.com, here are the most popular boat names:
  • Nauti Bouy
  • The Good Life
  • Aqua-holic
  • Dolce Vita
  • Second Wind
  • Serendipity
  • Liberty
  • It's About Time
  • Island Time
  • Seas the Day

According to FirstBoat.com, “You must register your boat in your state, which is more about the taxes and registration numbers than the boat name. If your recreational boat is over 5 net tons (usually 25 footers or longer), you can also choose to register it with the U.S. Coast Guard and make it a Federally Documented Vessel. The only boat name requirements related to a recreational vessel that is federally documented is that the boat lettering be at least 4 inches in height on the hull.”

FirstBoat also adds these names to the popular list
