Yakima's Light Up the Plaza event is set for Saturday in downtown. City Economic Development Manager Sean Hawkins says the 4th annual event is held to light up the community Christmas tree and welcome Santa Clause.
The event will start at 6:00 pm with a musical performance by Audrey Bell (6:00 pm - 6:30 pm).  At 6:30 pm, Santa will help Yakima’s Community Christmas Tree spring to life during a special lighting ceremony.  Free photos with Santa will also be available inside Ron's Coin and Collectibles (6th N. 3rd Street) from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm.  Audre Bell will then play out the event until about 7 PM.

Free horse drawn carriage rides will be available starting on December 2nd, 9th, and 16th from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm and on December 3rd, 10th, and 17th from noon to 4 PM and will board at the Millennium Plaza.

The activities on Sunday, December 4th begin with the Yakima Symphony Chorus performing traditional Christmas favorites during its Christmas Pops Spectacular starting at 4:00 pm at the Capitol Theater.  At 6:00 pm, the 17th Annual Holiday Lighted Parade will fill Yakima Avenue from 6th Avenue to 3rd Street.

Tuesday, December 13th has many offerings including, A White Christmas playing at the Orion Cinema as its Classic Movie Night offering; the Seasons Performance Hall will welcome Mark O’Connor Family Appalachian Christmas, or take in A Holiday Cabaret with Charlie and Al at the 4th Street Theater.
