I don’t mind the milder winter weather we’re having.  I don’t miss shoveling snow and I don’t miss dodging fair weather drivers but I do miss “comfort foods”.

Hot soup and grilled cheese, hot chili on baked potatoes, hot buttered rums in a hot tub and hot oatmeal and toast. But then, toast is anytime food because it’s part of a new trend in food!

Among all the new food flavors for the new year is an old favorite, most often seen in the company of peanut butter and jelly!   Currently small cafes and restaurants across the country are serving toast as a comfort food, making it with artisan bread and offering toppings from traditional dairy butter to almond butter and even salted avocado.

Another trendy 2015 food is dark chocolate, which is touted as being high in flavor with less sugar, and more health benefits. Seaweed is another food popping up across the country in various flavored chips and crisps. There's no shortage of healthy options, Brussel Bytes (dried Brussel sprouts) and Snip Chips (dried parsnips) should be hitting grocery store shelves soon too. (CNBC)
