A Talk Over Coffee May Help Solve Problems

In an effort to improve relations and communication with the community the Yakima Police Department is looking closely at a program called Coffee With A Cop. Yakima Police Chief Dominic Rizzi is in Spokane this week checking out the program operated by the Spokane Police Department. "I think the timing is right. Although I don't believe we have major issues between the police department and the community but there are issues to be addressed. So I think it's the perfect time to bring it in the community."  Officers and citizens meet in nuetral locations in the community and talk problems and solutions over coffee. The theme to Coffee With A Cop is building partnerships one cup of coffee at a time. Rizzi says he wants to start the program in Yakima in 2015.
