Just in time for those giant chocolate hollow bunnies, a new study on weight loss that won’t leave you with an empty Easter basket.The Sunday Express reports on a study by German researchers, published in the International Archives of Medicine, looked at the effect chocolate has on our diets.

Researchers took groups of volunteers of various ages divided into three groups. One of the groups followed a traditional low-carb diet.

One group ate their normal foods, another followed a strict low-carbohydrate diet, another group followed the low-carbohydrate diet and also ate 42 grams of dark (81 percent) chocolate per day.

So, place your bets. How did each group do?  Points to you if you predicted the low-carb group lost weight compared to the control.

But this may surprise you, the low-carb plus chocolate group lost 10 percent more weight.

The kicker? The chocolate group also reported better sleep and well-being, and their blood cholesterol levels were significantly reduced. So bring on those bunnies and those Cadbury Eggs cuz the big guy has a few pounds he needs to lose!
