“A” Street is now Sargent Pendleton Way

NewstalkKIT

A dedication ceremony was held today to rename “A” street Sargent Pendleton Way. The dedication ceremony took place in front of the Yakima train depot on the corner of Front Street and “A.”   Veterans groups pushed the Yakima City Council to make the change earlier this year.

Staff Sargent Jack Pendleton was killed in World War II.  For his heroics he was awarded the Medal of Honor.  In fact he is Yakima’s only Medal of Honor winner.  Staff Sargent Pendleton is buried in Tahoma Cemetery in Yakima.
