A New Interim Leader for Yakima

The City Council on Tuesday selected David Mercier to fill the shoes of City Manager Dick Zais who's recovering from an illness. The 61 year old Mercier was the former manager of Spokane Valley from 2003 to last year. City officials say regardless of what happens in the upcoming vote on the strong mayor proposal, Mercier is expected to stay in the position for up to a year.
