The annual Folklife Festival has never had beer and wine available, but that could change this year. Organizers say they want a wine and beer garden avialable at the event at Franklin park this year. So the Yakima Parks and Recreation Commission wants community input on the proposal. A public hearing will be held at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday night at Yakima City Hall. Folklife festival President Don Eastridge in a letter requesting permission from the city to operate a beer and wine garden, noted that the festival does not charge admission and is looking for new sources of revenue in order to, “…keep the free festivals going”. This years festival is set for July 19 and 20.
