8 1/2-Year Prison Term for Holbrook in Death of a Child

Yakima County Prosecuting Attorney Joe Brusic today announced the final chapter of a two-year investigation into the death of 23-month-old Sadie Rivera.

Twenty-four-year-old David Andrew Holbrook, who earlier pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter, was today sentenced to 8 1/2 years in prison. 

In a news release, Brusic stated “During the sentencing hearing, a number of family members spoke to the court about how this crime impacted their lives and the lives of their family members. The sentencing court noted the tragic nature of this offense … Under all the circumstances, the court acknowledged that this resolution in this case was 'appropriate.' ”
