August first and second the Yakima Valley celebrates the Hops Industry with a community celebration and -appropriately- beer bash!  The Moxee Hop Festival is full of music and family activities, displays and fundraisers and more - but the highlight is beer.Yakima Hops flavors beer around the world but most beers sold in the U.S. in 2014 came from just 11 companies.  Last year 38 million barrels of Bud Light were sold in the U.S.-- which equates to one in every five beers sold.  Also driving the trend is that big-name companies like Anheuser-Busch are quietly buying up independent brewers across the country.

That's significant, considering there are more than 3,400 breweries in the U.S. today, which is more than ever before. It turns out that about 1,400 of those beer makers are not producing beer that's sold in bars or on store shelves.

Craft beer is on the rise, taking more than 19 percent of American beer industry sales, and the fast-growing imported beer market also accounts of a significant number of sales. (Fox)

In fact your chance to try out dozens and dozens of America’s best craft beers is coming September 12 to downtown Yakima with America on Tap.   Food, Beer, Music, and Beer - This is the nation’s premiere traveling beer show and everything you need to know about can be found here. http://americaontap.com/yakima-wa/.
