SEATTLE (AP) — It's not exactly news to the people who live there, but Seattle is on pace to set new records for its warmest winter since 1945, when the National Weather Service started observing the weather at Sea-Tac Airport.  The average high temperature in February has been 55.3 degrees. That's 6 degrees above average. For the period between Dec. 21 and Feb. 15, Seattle has averaged 46.8 degrees. There are a few weeks left in the National Weather Service's official "meteorological winter," but so far Seattle's average temperature is nearly two degrees warmer than the record set in the winter of 1991-to-1992. Temperatures would need to drop down below an average of 40 degrees to not break a record this winter. How did this happen? All the days of October were at 55 degrees or warmer. Most of November was 50 degrees or warmer. December and January were also warm months. And Seattle is experiencing one of the warmest Februaries on record. Yakima's high temperature on Monday was 57 degrees.
