29-Year-Old Man Arrested After Random Home Invasion Tuesday

Yakima Police arrested a 29-year-old man after a random home invasion and assault at home in the 3200 block of Vincenta Drive Tuesday night. Spokesman Mike Bastinelli says the suspect armed with a knife entered the home and confronted two sisters and their grandmother. He then sexually assaulted one of the girls. During the attack the girls and their grandmother were able to fight off the attacker and run to a neighbor's house where they called police. "Our officers found and arrested the suspect a couple of blocks away." Bastinelli says the 29-year-old suspect was stabbed in the chest during the assault at the home. He was treated for the wound and taken to jail. He's facing charges of first degree rape, burglary, assault and robbery. he's being held in the Yakima county jail.
The incident was reported at about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
