Bicycling has been an enjoyable thing for a very long time and safety is still an important part of that especially now with the weather heating up, Summer on the doorstep and more bikes on the road.

Yakima has had some bike accidents and according to KIMA-tv, safety is the top priority where the Yakima Lions Club teamed up with the boy scouts at an event teaching kids about bike safety.

70 helmets were given away, reports KIMA-tv, and obstacle courses were set up for the kids to navigate through so that they can learn at an early age and know what to expect once they get older.

KIMA-tv says another safety course is already in the planning stages and emphasized even more now after Tuesday's accident when a bicyclist was hit by a truck and thrown 80 feet.
