Hundreds of people gathered at a Union Gap School on Sunday for a May Day rally after marchers spent the entire day walking a 27-mile path from Granger to Union Gap.

Many marched for immigration reform and a path to citizenship.

Yakima Bishop Joseph Tyson told those at the rally at a park next to Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School that labor rights leader Cesar Chavez was a great example of a man who at first was against the undocumented, but changed through his faith.

"There was a process of conversion based on faith. So I hope you remember his great legacy and the great journey he made in bringing everyone together the documented and undocumented," Tyson told the crowd.

The bishop and other Hispanic community leaders spoke at the rally. Many were there after completing the 27-mile-march with various stops along the way.
