Officials at State Fair Park are celebrating a successful 2016 in the Yakima Valley Sundome. Greg Lybeck is the Assistant General Manager of State Fair Park who says 2016 year end report for the Sundome shows increases across the board from event days to total attendance to economic impact Sundome events made in Yakima. Lybeck says "economic impact is up 28 percent up to $19.4 million from $15.1 million from 2015 so yeah we're excited about what the events brought us and the community."
Lybeck says the biggest events were the Washington State Music Educators Association conference, Bernie Sanders campaign, concerts and the Central Washington State Fair. And Lybeck says they've already been busy this year as well. This weekend thousands of people will visit the Sundome for the WIAA Dance and Drill competition and championship.
