A 13 year old boy remains in serious condition at a Seattle hospital after being struck by a Yakima County Sheriff's deputy vehicle in hay field in the Harrah area Sunday morning. Yakima County Sheriff’s Office deputies and officers from the Yakama Indian Nation Police Department responded to a home invasion robbery which took place in the 11600 block of Branch Road, in the rural Harrah area. A press release from the sheriff's department says "During that investigation, information was obtained indicating that multiple suspects, described as being armed, had confronted the resident of the home who was awoken from sleep.  The subjects then fled the immediate area.  Officers determined that a possible location for the suspects was a residence located in the nearby 3900 block of Barkes Road.  One of the deputies noticed someone run off into nearby field so he drove into the hay field and as the press release says "the vehicle inadvertently struck a subject in the field, who sustained serious injuries." The 13-year old member of the Yakima Nation remains in serious condition at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. An administrative investigation was also immediately started by the Yakima County Sheriff’s Office, who turned the investigation over to the Yakima Valley Special Investigation Unit (YVSIU), which is comprised of investigators from multiple agencies.

The investigation into the initial home invasion robbery is also continuing as well.
