A 13-year old boy was hit by a Yakima Police car this afternoon near Garfield Elementary school.  His injuries don't appear to be serious.
Yakima Police say 17 year veteran police officer Mike Henne was driving his cruiser south on Sixth Avenue near Jerome Avenue at 2:30 p.m. this afternoon when the boy ran westbound across the street in front of the car and was hit. It appears the boy was not a student at the school. Sergeant Henne stopped immediately and began rendering first aid.

The boy identified as Jorge Robles suffered injuries to his right side. Witnesses stated they had seen Robles running south along the east sidewalk and then onto the road attempting to cross to the west when he ran directly into the path of Sergeant Henne’s vehicle.
The Yakima Police Department Traffic Unit is conducting this investigation
